Special Education Conference:
OSEC will providing
its 5th Annual Consortium
Wide Special Education Conference.
Schools will be asked to bring all their Special
Education Staff and administrators to the workshop.
The workshop will be designed for both newly hired
special education employees and for veteran employees.
BIE staff will be formally invited to attend the
Conference, so interested schools can schedule meetings.

IDEIA/1114 Plans: OSEC
staff will assist schools in the development of
their IDEIA and 1114 Plans. This activity will
be done in cooperation with the Education Line
Office, so schools can address BIE questions and
concerns. These sessions will be done in three
regions/meeting (eastern, middle and western parts
of the State). |

Phone and Internet TA: Each participating
school will be assigned an OSEC
SPED staff who will provide the school with phone
and e-mail contact information. Schools will be
able to contact OSEC
staff concerning any SPED related question that
may arise on a daily basis (Please use Internet
after 8:00 p.m.). This is an unlimited service!!! |

Monthly Calendar: A monthly calendar
will be provided to each school of OSEC
SPED staff schedules with both internet and phone
contact information. |

Technical Support Documents:
Any documents developed by OSEC
staff in conjunction with schools related to supporting
special education services will automatically be
forwarded to all participating schools. |

Collaborative Staffing: OSEC
staff will work directly with school Human Resource
personnel and superintendents to identify and contract
direct student services (ie. Speech pathology, educational
psychology, etc). Please, note that OSEC
is not guaranteeing positions, but continues to
work to make additional resources available |

School Board Meetings: OSEC
staff will provide technical support to school boards
on IDEA Policies and Procedures. This can be done
during a board retreat or meetings. |
| 8. |
Facilitation of residential (REPP) placement:
OSEC staff will provide
phone/faxed TA to assist school in determining if
school has fulfilled LRE standard as perceived by
the IHP/BIE; assist with the IHP paperwork as requested/needed;
work with BIE/IHP to assist school in making needed
placement; assist with monitoring of direct services
as negotiated between OSEC
and the school for up to 2 students in placement.
Schools with 3 or more students will need to negotiate
with the executive director.); and assist schools,
under current BIE policy, in recouping IEP related
school expenses for student placements from IHP.
OSEC cannot guarantee
that BIE will support a student’s placement
at a residential facility. |

Assistance with basic OSEP/BIE Reports:
OSEC staff will assist
school administrators and/or special education staff
in monitoring of deadlines and completion of required
reports for BIE. |
