| Legacies |
| The Oceti Sakowin Education Consortium was recognized
by the state of South Dakota as a non-profit orginization
in June 2002. The organization has created a formal
agreement with the Mid-Central Educational Cooperative
to provide OSEC with fiscal and personnel support
services. The Oceti Sakowin organization elects
a Board of Directors at its annual meeting in December
and employs an appointed executive director. |

| Over the past three years, the Oceti
Sakowin Education Consortium has provided, and continues
to provide, opportunities: |
- Offering enhanced curricular opportunities
for high school and middle school students
- Offering access to undergraduate and graduate
degree programs through partnerships with Tribal
and South Dakota Board of Regents Universities
- For diverse school district and college personnel
to share their expertise and come to know their
common concerns regarding high quality educational
opportunities for all students; and
- To join schools via electronic audio-video
communications so that students can come to
know and learn among others in different communities
throughout the state and region.
